Regional Perfusion Cancer Therapy

The best prognosis for people with cancer is detecting it early enough that it can be completely removed through surgery.

Unfortunately, many people don’t find out that they have cancer until their tumors have already become so large that they cannot be removed completely without damaging other organs, or until a previous tumor has recurred.

Despite advances in traditional chemotherapy, some kinds of cancers just do not respond well to it. And, in some cases, the cancer may be too advanced to tolerate the side effects of chemotherapy. For these late-stage and advanced cancers, regional perfusion may be an option.

Some of the conditions currently being treated with regional Perfusion Therapy include:

Disease Description
Neuroendocrine Tumors Tumors resulting from cells that release hormones as a response to a signal from the nervous system.
Sarcomas Cancer of the bone, cartilage, fat, muscle, blood vessels, or other connective or supportive tissues.
Liver Cancer Cancer that occurs in the tissues of the liver.
Regionally Confined Melanoma Skin cancer that has spread through the bloodstream to another area of the body.
Pleural Cavity Tumors Tumors found in the space between the lungs and chest wall that contains lubricating pleural fluid.
Metastases Cancer that started in one part of the body and has spread to another part of the body.
Late-stage and Advanced Cancers Cancer where tumors are so large they cannot be removed completely without damaging other organs, or a previous tumor has recurred.

The type of regional perfusion therapy depends on the type and location of your cancer. Treatments may include:
  • Isolated Hepatic Perfusion (IHP)
  • Percutaneous Hepatic Perfusion (PHP)
  • Hyperthermic Pleural Perfusion
  • Isolated Limb Perfusion
