Robert P. Edwards, M.D., Director of Gynecological Oncology Research, Magee Womens Hospital of the University Of Pittsburgh Medical School will discuss the application of “Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy” (HIPEC) as part of an Integrative Treatment Plan for Ovarian Cancer.
This patient oriented presentation will share information about treating peritoneal carcinomatosis from ovarian cancer with HIPEC following surgery to help you make a more informed treatment decision.
Following the presentation Dr. Edwards will answer questions about the HIPEC Procedure and the Treatment Program at Magee Womens Hospital.
Dr. Edwards’ background is in the treatment of women with ovarian and cervical cancer with local regional therapies and vaccination strategies. He has been performing hyperthermic perfusion on women with ovarian cancer since 2003. Dr. Edwards uses various forms of intraperitoneal therapy and has written a number of papers on the use of intraperitoneal therapy in the treatment of women with ovarian cancer.
