Nader Hanna, M.D., F.A.C.S., Associate Professor of Surgery and Head, Division of Surgical Oncology at the
University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center (UMGCC) in Baltimore, Maryland, discusses treating metastatic colorectal cancer and appendiceal cancer that has spread to the peritoneal/abdominal cavity, with "Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC)" in the operative setting following surgery.
This patient-oriented presentation will explain the components of the surgery, the HIPEC procedure, which patients may be candidates for this procedure and the Peritoneal Surface Malignancy Program at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center.
Dr. Hanna received his medical degree from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, in 1985; completed his surgical residency at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Tufts University; and completed two fellowships at the University of Chicago. He is board-certified in general surgery and surgical oncology.
