Dr. Daniel Labow, Assistant Professor of Surgery and Program Director of Surgical Oncology Fellowship at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York City, New York, discusses treating metastatic gastrointestinal malignancy (including colorectal cancer, appendiceal cancer, gastric cancer and more) that has spread to the peritoneal/abdominal cavity, with “Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC)” in the operative setting following surgery.

Dr. Daniel Labow's clinical and research interests include the diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of both primary and metastatic malignancies including gastric and esophageal cancer, pancreatic neoplasms, primary and metastatic liver malignancies, biliary tract disease, colon and rectal cancer, sarcoma, melanoma and breast cancer.

Additionally, he is interested in the application of minimally invasive techniques and their role in cancer care.

He has pioneered cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC at Mount Sinai and has performed the procedure on a wide variety of malignancies including colorectal cancer, appendiceal cancer, gastric cancer, hepatocellular cancer and others.
